Yelonda has a heart to serve others. It is that desire that led Yelonda to want to be a part of Diane’s Heart. Raised by a single Mom, Yelonda has a passion to eradicate the stigma that surrounds single parenthood. She wishes to use her gifts and talents to equip single Mom’s with the ability to conquer every obstacle they face. Most importantly, she wants to let single Moms know that they are not on the journey alone.
Yelonda has spent many years serving her community through her church and other organizations. She has served as a Deacon, Children’s Ministry volunteer and on the Girls Scouts Scholarship program committee through her company. Her long term vision is to start a philanthropic organization that will become her family’s legacy of community service.
Yelonda is the proud mother of three beautiful daughters.
Favorite/Memory Story:
My favorite memory is the Diane’s Heart Diaper Drive. This was the last Diane’s Heart serve event I was able to do with my Mom. At the time, we were not aware that she was suffering from dementia. My Mom was diagnosed with Aphasia a few weeks later. Aphasia is a form of dementia that affects the person’s ability to speak. My Mom was so excited about being able to help that she was directing everyone on how to setup everything for the event. She wanted everything to be perfect for the Moms picking up their diapers and wipes. A few months later, she passed away. Instead of flowers in memory of her, our family asked for donations to Diane’s Heart to honor her legacy of generosity!
